Kentucky Pesticide Record Keeping: 302 KAR 26:030 for Pest Management Companies
What Kentucky pesticide application records must include under 302 KAR 26:030, trainee supervision details, and the three-year keeping rule.
The owner’s takeaway
Kentucky’s pesticide record-keeping rule, 302 KAR 26:030, requires structural pest management companies and their licensed operators, applicators, and trainees to keep application records for at least three years, including general-use applications. Each record lists the customer, location, size and type of area treated, time and date, product and EPA registration number, total amount, and who applied it.
Which rule applies now
Kentucky moved its pesticide record-keeping requirements into 302 KAR 26:030. The older certification regulation, 302 KAR 29:060, has been repealed, so older training materials may cite the wrong rule. The rule covers restricted-use applications and, for structural pest management companies, licensed operators, licensed applicators, and trainees, general-use applications as well.
What each application record must include
Section 2 of the rule lists the application record fields.
- Name and address of the person receiving the service
- Location of the application
- Size of the area treated
- Type of area treated (or crop, commodity, or stored product)
- Time and date of application
- Brand or product name and EPA registration number
- Total amount of each pesticide applied per location per application
- Name of the person who made the application
- For trainees: the trainee’s name and the supervising applicator’s name and license number, plus the supervision records required by 302 KAR 26:050
Three years, available on request
Keep records for at least three years from the date of application and make them available to the Kentucky Department of Agriculture on request. You do not need to keep duplicate copies of the same record.
Trainees need extra care
Trainee applications are where Kentucky records most often fall short. Make sure every record a trainee creates names the supervising applicator and their license number, and that your supervision records are kept alongside the application records.
How WildPipe helps
WildPipe’s pesticide records save the product, EPA registration number, amount, rate, area treated, target pest, method, weather, and the licensed applicator and supervisor at the stop, and you can require the record before a visit can close. Saved records are sealed, corrections become dated amendments, and you can search and export them for an inspector. The field app also works without signal, so the record is made on site instead of typed up later.
This guide summarizes published rules as of October 2026. It is not legal advice. Rules are amended, and your license category, the products you use, and local requirements can add more. Confirm the current rule with your state agency before relying on it.
