> See the time between visits that is not driving, working, or a break. Real work like loading the truck or a supply run counts, and techs can explain the rest.

**Part of:** [Dispatch & Routing](https://wildpipe.com/features/dispatch-routing) (Dispatch & Serve)

## Overview
See the time between visits that is not driving, working, or a break. Real work like loading the truck or a supply run counts, and techs can explain the rest.

## Key outcome
Know where the day went, fairly.

## What you can do
- See each tech’s time off task by day
- Count real work outside visits
- Review explanations and coach when needed

## Explore the capabilities
### Measured the same way every day
- Count time between visits that is not driving, visit work, a break or an appointment wait, only while the tech is on their route and clocked in.
- Save each day with its total and its main causes.
- Show techs a live time off task chip on their route so nothing is a surprise.
- Set a daily allowance and a coaching limit for the team.

### Real work outside visits counts
- Let techs start activities such as truck loading, a supply run, fuel or an animal drop-off.
- Count time at saved places like the shop or a supplier, company calls, equipment scans and paperwork after a visit on its own.
- Give each kind of activity its own daily limit, for the whole business or one company.
- Let managers record time as work for a tech, such as waiting at the shop for a part.

### Review, coach & spot patterns
- Techs explain a gap from their phone, and managers excuse or reject it.
- Open a tech’s gaps for the day straight from their route on Dispatch.
- Draft a write-up for a day over the coaching limit; the tech sees it only after a manager approves it.
- Flag people whose time off task stays well above the team’s for several days.
- Review and coach from the office or the field app.

## Settings and choices
- Turn time off task on or off and set the daily allowance and coaching limit.
- Choose the activities, their limits, and whether explanations nobody can confirm wait for review or are excused under the limit.
- Save the places your team goes for work, such as the shop, office and suppliers.

## From start to finish
1. Techs work their route as usual, and real work outside visits is counted as it happens.
2. Each day is saved with what counted and why.
3. Managers review explanations, coach the days over the limit, and watch the trend.

## More ways to use it
- A tech loads the truck for twenty minutes before the first stop. Truck loading is under its limit, so it is not held against them.
- A tech says they were waiting on dispatch. The note goes to a manager, who excuses it from the Dispatch board.

## Feature questions
### Can a GPS gap get a tech written up?
No. Time that could not be checked is shown on its own and is never used for a write-up draft.

### Does coaching go straight to the tech?
No. Coaching creates a write-up draft that a manager approves before the tech sees it.

### Can each company use its own rules?
Yes. Activities, limits and review rules can be set for the whole business or for one company.

## Here’s an example
A tech spends forty minutes at the supply house. It counts as a supply run, so it is not held against them.
